WEIGHT management

Why can’t I lose weight?

Typically when someone makes the decision to achieve a healthier weight, the first action they take is to adopt the “Calories In Calories Out formula”.  For most, this works, but for many it stops working, and they reach what is referred to as a “plateau”.

Now What?

When you still have weight to lose and you can’t seem to shake it off with proper diet and exercise then it’s time to dig deeper and explore WHY!

What may be inhibiting my efforts to lose weight?

Hormonal Imbalances

Insulin Resistance

Digestive Issues

Stress/Adrenal Fatigue

Environmental Toxins

Inflammation

Oxidative Stress

Genetics

Medications

More often than not, it’s a combination of more than one contributing factor and if left unaddressed, the frustration of not losing weight will continue to linger.

So, what step should I take next?

It may be time to work with a functionally trained nutritionist!

What is a Functional Nutritionist?

A Functional Nutritionist a registered dietitian who is trained to look for answers to why your body is not responding to your efforts.

The goal of a functional nutritionist  is to not only adjust your food intake, but to help you work with your doctor to identify underlying health concerns that warrant a deeper look.

Ready to lose weight?

This time will  be different! Come in and step on the InBody scale! Let’s see how effective your weight loss efforts really are. You may be surprised to find that it’s not about the body weight but about the fat loss. InBody will show you what you body is made of and allow me to come up with much more targeted recommendations to help you meet your weight goals!

Can you give me an example of what you will do to help me?

First and foremost, a comprehensive nutritional assessment will be conducted to discern what area(s) of your body should be addressed first.

For most, the health of the GI Tract needs to be addressed first.  Liz utilizes the Mediator Release Test to identify food sensitivities which begins the process of healing inflammation. Unaddressed inflammation hinders weight loss.

Patients will be encouraged to seek additional laboratory parameters from their primary care physician to identify possible hormonal imbalances, insulin resistance,  vitamin deficiencies, oxidative stress, ph balance of body and more. Liz will look at these results with a nutritional eye to help adjust food choices as indicated.

For example, if you are insulin resistant, a carbohydrate controlled diet will be implemented.  If you are acidic, dietary modifications to correct this will be implemented(left untreated will hinder weight loss).  If you have thyroid hormone imbalances, a referral back to your physician will be recommended. Liz will help you ask your doctor the right questions.  If you have vitamin or digestive issues to address, appropriate supplements will be recommended.

Basically a functional nutritionist helps you identify what part(s) of your body are imbalanced, empowering you to be more in control of your own health. Liz will help you become a more informed patient, allowing you the opportunity to work closer with your physician towards your journey of becoming healthier.

Discover the real reasons why you can’t lose weight and get past the plateau!

I’ll help you order the right labs to determine whether you need to be eating more (or less), eliminate (or add) certain foods or food groups or address underlying health conditions or hormone imbalances first. I will also create a personalized eating plan, recommend the right supplements and more! Let’s work together to help you lose weight safely and effectively and maintain good health!
