Welcome to Acadiana Functional Nutrition Center

Interested in exploring whether or not your health challenges could be food related?

Not all nutritionists and dietitians take the same approach to health challenges. At Acadiana Functional Nutrition Center the goal is to heal your body though proper nutrition. For many people the definition of a healthy diet tends to be lots of fruits and vegetables, healthy grains, and a generally balanced diet. However, new research shows that not all “healthy” foods are actually “healthy.” The benefits of certain healthy food choices in your diet are more individualized than previously thought.

Food Sensitivities, What are They?

Many people experience what are known as food sensitivities. These sensitivities, over time, affect your overall health. While food sensitivities are similar to allergies, the effects of food sensitivities are much broader and more difficult to trace than those of allergies. Food allergies tend to produce an immediate and noticeable reaction. The immediate and noticeable reaction makes allergies much easier to identify. Identifying your personal food sensitivities requires more effort. Working with a nutritionist can help to identify your food sensitivities.

Food sensitivities cause reactions that are more subtle in nature. Some of these effects like Migraines, ADHD, and Hypothyroidism are generally treated with medication as opposed to diet. Reactions to food sensitivities tend to build up and cause problems over a longer time span. This makes them much more difficult to identify. That’s where your nutritionist comes in. As a dietitian who is certified in food sensitivities, I can help you identify your food sensitivities and put you on a path to feeling better.

Why a Nutritionist? I Already Have a Doctor…

My patients have needed a wide range of help. I have handled everything from chronic migraines, weight gain, ADHD, autism, hypothyroidism, diabetes and many other chronic conditions that are generally treated with medication. However, my system identifies your trigger foods though blood work and other tests. We then use the test results to tailor a diet that works for your individual needs.

If you’re thinking “Wow, that’s not possible. There’s no way you can treat something like a migraine or ADHD with diet” I would like to share a few of my success stories.
