Diagnosis:  Asperger’s Syndrome

Patient:  19 year old male

Chief Complaints:  Extreme anxiety and inability to focus, Extreme Sugar and Carbohydrate Cravings, Excess Weight, Fatigue

Nutritional Intervention:  Slow progression towards eating a Gluten and Casein Free Diet (January-February 2014)  Third month(March 2014): Implemented LEAP Elimination Diet using MRT Food Panel Results

Patient Outcome:

Ht: 6’1”  Weight 238 (January 2014)  Weight 206 (November 2014)

Initially, no immediate weight loss results were seen with just the Gluten and Casein Diet but marked behavioral improvements were noted by parents and significant others. Identifying patient’s additional food sensitivities in month three and eliminating these foods is ultimately what promoted weight loss and even greater patient focus.  Patient’s medications were reduced as his response to diet improved.

October 2014:  Patient admits to non-compliance with diet.  As a result, he has been experiencing more sugar cravings and fatigue.  Intervention: Evaluate patient’s Adrenal and Neurotransmitter status. Results of test confirm extreme Adrenal Fatigue and Low Serotonin levels.  Intervention: Add Adrenal and Neurotransmitter Nutritional Support. November 2014: Patient’s response to recent intervention still pending at time of this post.  Update to patient’s response will be updated soon.
